ACORN CARAVAN HIRE - TERMS & CONDITIONS

Collections, Returns and Deposit

The Hirer MUST

A deposit of £150:00 for the UK and £200 outside the UK  together with a completed reservation form is required in order to confirm any booking.  This deposit is held towards the £250 excess in the event of any damage to the caravan during the period of hire.  The deposit will not be refunded in the event of loss of equipment, damage to tyres, breakage of windows and loss of roof lights.  The deposit is over and above the hire fee and is refundable subject to :-

 

1.       The caravan being returned in a clean and undamaged condition, no breakages loss of roof lights, damage to tyres etc.

 

2.       A charge of up to £50:00 will be made should the caravan require extensive cleaning and/or the chemical toilet require emptying.

 

3.       A charge of £10:00 per hour will be made in respect of late returns, except by prior arrangement between Acorn and the client.

 

4.       A charge of £50:00 will be made should it be necessary for Acorn to collect the caravan within a 40 mile radius of the collection point or £2:00 per mile beyond that distance.

 

5.       All hire fees have been paid

 

6.    AT NO TIME MUST DOGS OR OTHER ANIMALS BE ALLOWED IN THE CARAVANS, AWNINGS ETC, AS THE NEXT HIRER MIGHT BE ALGERGIC TO ANIMALS.  FAILURE TO COMPLY THE HIRER WILL FORFEIT THEIR DEPOSIT.

7.  ALL CARAVANS ARE NON-SMOKING.  If smoking is detected in the caravan the hirer forfeits their deposit.

8.  All equipment supplied in the band 1 caravans i.e. Crockery pots & pans etc., must be left clean and put back into the plastic container it came in.  this also applies if this is hired as an extra on a band 2 caravan.  Any loss or damages are chargeable. 

9.  If awnings are required and paid for and the previous hirer has damaged the awning Acorn cannot be responsible if there is not another awning available.  The cost of hire and if erect/dismantle is paid will be refunded in full. 

1.      Ensure that his vehicle is properly equipped and capable of towing a caravan, legally.

 

2.      Inform his Insurance company of his intention to tow a caravan, and arrange cover as necessary.

 

3.      Produce his driving licence and valid insurance certificate at the time of collection. Also produce the original Vehicle Registration document. in order that  a  number plate can be made for the back of the caravan. This is a legal  requirement  from the  DVLA since January 2003. No number plate can be produced without this document.      

 

4.          Return the caravan to the point of collection except by    

prior agreement with Acorn.

 

5.          Advise Acorn immediately in the event of an accident and    

        record any relevant details.

 

6.          Inform Acorn of any malfunctions or defects, whereupon Acorn will endeavour to repair or arrange repairs of the  defect. Acorn regrets it cannot accept any claims for

        damages, or malfunctions.

 

7.    If the caravan is left unoccupied overnight the insurance is not valid and the hirer will be responsible for any damage or if it is stolen.

 

8.    If a wheel clamp is provided this must be fitted to the wheel of the caravan at all times when left on camp sites, etc.  At no time must a caravan be left unattended at motorway services, restaurants etc.

 

9.       DVLA Legal requirements since 1997 – no one who passed their test after this date is eligible to tow a caravan without taking a trailer test.  Also insurance cannot be provided for anyone under the age of 25 years.

 

 

Insurance

Hire Fees are due in full 28 days before the hire period commences. Deposits will be forfeit if cancellation is made up to 6 weeks prior to departure, with the full hire fee due if the caravan cannot be re-let.

The hirer is comprehensively insured by the Company in respect of the caravan with an excess of £250.  In the event of theft or malicious damage and the hirer is responsible, this will not be covered under the insurance.  Please contact 0118 9712918 in the event of an accident.   The Hirer must inform his own insurers that the car is being used for towing as the third part risk in respect of the caravan must, by law, be covered by the Insurance Company of the vehicle that is towing the caravan.  Loss of any personal belongings are not included.

 

Tyres

Touring Abroad

Acorn will undertake to supply all caravans with roadworthy tyres plus a spare wheel and tyre. Should a tyre become un-roadworthy during the hire period, the hirer will be held responsible for replacement and charges.

We require sight of a valid E.C Driving licence and Certificate of Insurance upon collection or delivery of the caravan. For customers travelling overseas we will also require sight of a valid Green card Insurance, AA 5-Star or similar. For customers expecting to visit Spain, sight of a Bail Bond will be required.

The Hirer MUST NOT

 

Quality Pledge

1.        Allow the caravan to be towed by other persons other than those named on the hire agreement.

2.        Loan, Rent or hire to a third party.

3.        Remove or deface any manufactures marks or any Acorn identification placards.

 

4.        Commission any repairs or modifications to the caravan without prior agreement of Acorn.

5.        Take the caravan out of the U.K without informing Acorn.

Acorn will undertake to supply a caravan in a clean and fully equipped condition with the number of berths requested by the hirer. Acorn cannot however, guarantee to supply a particular make or model of caravan.

 

If a caravan is supplied at very short notice, then the specifications may vary from that shown for that band.
